This could be a benefit for him.  He probably got sent to a low-security prison with less dangerous inmates… now this HOMELESS man has a home, food, a way to clean himself… there’s a reason homeless people do things to get themselves put into jail during the winter.  Perhaps the judge did this to help him out.  Obviously, prison sucks, but being homeless isn’t so perfect either.  I’m not arguing with anyone, but it’s just a point to discuss. There’s clearly something wrong when someone has to commit a crime in order to find a place to sleep. That was actually yesterday’s topic. America, the beautiful!
